ITGI is the top option for opening Southern Gas Corridor
The Turkey-Greece-Italy Interconnector (ITGI) is the top option for opening the Southern Gas Corridor, DEPA’s Chairman and CEO Harry Sachinis declared on the first day of the 18th international Caspian Oil&Gas Conference. The opening of the Southern Corridor will enhance regional security and diversification of supply, filling the future gas supply gap, by transiting gas to SE Europe and beyond.
Being the most mature and at an advanced stage project, ITGI matches the volumes to be exported from Shah Deniz II. Mr. Sachinis also noted that ITGI allows for phased growth of Corridor, where Nabucco pipeline could become the second stage of the development of the Southern Corridor.
