SOCAR starts drilling new well in Oil Rocks offshore field
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan has started drilling a new well from offshore stationary platform No 1887 in Oil Rocks offshore field.
According to SOCAR, the project depth of the well is 2870 meters. Under geologists’ estimates, after the well is commissioned, its daily output will be 30 tonnes of oil.
The Oil Rocks field has been developing since 1949. Over the whole period of operation the Oil Rocks and Gryazevaya Sopka fields produced 173m tonnes of oil.
By recent estimates, the residential field stocks are about 30m tonnes, which equals a new field by the current international criteria.
